New Delhi: Draupadi Murmu took oath as the 15th President of India on Monday morning.
Draupadi Murmu, who was elected by a huge majority in the recently held elections, was administered the oath of office by Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Murthy NV Ramana in a ceremony held at the Central Hall of the Parliament on Monday.
Outgoing President Ramnath Kovind, former President Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, AICC President Sonia Gandhi, BJP National President J.P. Nadda and other dignitaries were present.
The outgoing and President-elect arrived for the swearing-in ceremony in a grand procession from the grand Rashtrapati Bhavan with dignitaries.
On this occasion, the defense forces paid tribute to the President.

Arriving at the central hall, Draupathi Murmu was greeted by thunderous applause. Everyone in the hall stood up and paid their respects.
Born in an ordinary family in Odisha, Draupadi Murmu became the first tribal woman to become the President of the country.
Speaking after signing the formal papers, Murmu said, "My election has proved that even a poor Indian can dream and fulfill it."
